This recent body of work entitled Memento Vivere (“remember to live”) explores the detachment and rebirth of self after trauma and the myths that persist around women who speak up about sexual violence. Kiln fired and blackened in a pit fueled by documents of recent Texas House bills restricting abortion up to 6 weeks after conception, the work explores death and the journey of transformation amidst public scrutiny. Coins bearing the semblance of Dr Ford and Anita Hill giving testimony to Congress cover they eyes to hasten passage through the underworld. Myth must be invoked when justice betrays us—“In Trust we Trust”.
